An opportunity exists for a Technical Consultant with strong Java, J2EE, Websphere to join the large and reputable Financial Services company.

This role would suit an expert Java Lead who wishes to move from project based work to an enterprise wide, strategic focus. The role is responsible for providing expert Java consulting to business teams and project teams, and to facilitate high quality Java solution development.

The role will entail a wide variety of activities, including:

• Setting, reviewing and promoting standards and best practices


• Championing the Java community and facilitating open communication across the java teams


• Identifying designs, patterns and artefacts that have the potential for reuse across the enterprise


• Investigation and assessment of new tools, products and technologies and socialising the outcomes of the assessments


• Developing proof of concept applications and providing example code


• Mentoring and developing Java developers skills

Required skills and experience:

• 5+ years broad experience in J2EE design and programming


• Leadership Skills


• Ability to handle multiple tasks and to prioritise


• Strong analytical and problem solving skills


• Experience with a number of J2EE frameworks and technologies such as Spring, JSF, Struts, Hibernate, Maven, Ant


• Experience with WebSphere Application Server
